"Reflecting on 2021"
Vol. 1, No. 11, December 2021
I am going to keep this short but wanted to say how much I appreciate all of your support and inspiration as I continue on my artistic journey.
It has been an incredible year of many firsts.
- launched my newsletter, my online art shop and, my first NFT collection
- rebranded my Patreon as Mike Hendley Fine Art
- connected with so many new creatives from around the globe
- made my own mushroom ink then painted with it
- created so much more art
- refined my pencil technique and confirmed my favorite tool is the Pentel GraphGear 1000
- finally embraced watercolor
- worked on my colored pencil technique
- found my perfect sketchbook, I think ;-)
- podcast continued to grow and and I interviewed some incredible artists
- inspired many others to draw, paint and create
As I say goodbye to 2021, I am more confident in my abilities as an artist, podcaster, writer and coach. My theme for 2022 is the “Year of Storytelling” and I am excited about what that will bring.
I hope you will continue to follow along and maybe tap into your creativity. Please let me know if you do!
Take care and be safe. Wishing you all the best 2022.
Recent Drawing Inspiration Episodes
Here are a couple of the most recent “Drawing Inspiration” podcast episodes. The podcast is available wherever you listen to music.
66: Rediscovering Creative Identity Through Fine Art with Stephanie Darlene Greenwald
I talk about Nomad Sculpt for iPadOS. Stephanie Darlene Greenwald joins the podcast to talk about how she recently rediscovered her art again after spending two decades as a graphic designer. She shares her expertise as an artist/illustrator as well as a businesswoman and a single parent. She talks about how she creates, what inspires her and some things she has learned along the way. The homework is something we can all identify with, so have fun! 🙂
67: For the Love of Watercolor and Observation with Ian de Hoog
I talk about a change to Patreon, some new artwork, and setting your theme for 2022. I am joined by artist and educator Ian de Hoog who shares his creative journey that involves music and art. Ian goes into detail about his tools and his approach to creating. We explore his recent works and talk about his current course on watercolor. Ian also shares homework that will provide you with an easy opportunity for improvement into 2022.
